Adult Onset Asthma
Asthma is thought of as a childhood disease, and for the most part it is. There is a chance that the disease may start once adulthood is reached. According to a CNN interview of Dr. Ashok Patel by CNN after reaching adulthood a person has a one in ten chance of developing asthma.

There is a greater chance that adult onset asthma is nonatopic in nature, meaning that things like emotion, exercise and some medicines like aspirin may cause an attack.
According to a study by Finnish researchers smoking is a cause of asthma in adults. Source
