Heart Disease

Heart disease or coronary artery disease is the number one cause of deaths in the United States. Officially it is the buildup of plaque in blood vessels that nourish the heart. Over a lifetime these blood vessels can become clogged with materials which make it impossible for the heart to receive the oxygen it needs to continue beating. A heart attack is when these blood vessels become completely occluded, causing heart muscle to die.
