Prelone, Pediapred, Orapred or Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate -

Given via injection, syrup or tablets this corticosteroid is given to patients whose uncrontrolled asthma is not controlled by aerosolized corticosteroids and long acting bronchodilators. Given orally prednisolone will have reach it's peak concentration in the blood in 1 to 2 hours and last from 3 to 36 hours although it may take from 3 to 10 days of therapy until symptoms subside. By taking a corticosteroid by mouth or by injection the steroid will work much quicker, but the side effects are greater.
