Asthma Causes
No one is quite sure what the root cause of asthma is. It is known that the lungs of certain people are more sensitive than others to elements in the environment. An asthma attack occurs when something irritates the lungs of someone who has asthma. When the asthmatics lungs become irritated the tubes that carry air to the person's lungs begin to close from the contraction of muscles that line the person's bronchial tubes and from the swelling and mucus production from cells that line these tubes.
It is thought that genetics can have a role in why some people develop it.
What remains a mystery is why some people develop asthma, while others
do not.
